Street dogs play a very important role in our society
Street dogs in India are a common and oft overlooked population, but their presence is part of the fabric and history of life throughout the country. With an estimated 30 million homeless companion animals across the nation’s landscape, street dogs play an important role in Indian communities at large. They can be found scavenging for food on city streets from North to South and East to West, providing security, companionship, rodents control services and more without asking for anything in return. Yet despite their resiliency there remains much about these resilient pups that most people don't know or understand.
In this blog we will delve deep into understanding various aspects behind street dog lives such as how they survive day by day - often with limited resources; whether they should be labeled “stray” versus “feral” due to behavior developed over generations; animal welfare initiatives taken up by non-profits; cultural beliefs surrounding them amongst different regions; challenges faced during political removals occurring even today amidst growing urbanization & so forth,. By sharing pertinent stories woven together within larger social contexts related to our canine friends roaming free yet struggling through inclement weather conditions etc., it is my hope that readers open themselves up to developing empathy - not just towards human beings living with poverty & other hardships rather than promoting prejudice against unsupported cosmopolitan populations dependent upon charitable sustenance from passersby. Regardless if one chooses to volunteer time/services or donate money toward entities assisting marginalised village folks taking proactive steps eking out livelihood sustaining projects beneficial for both humans & nature alike.. let us indeed aim towards celebrating humanity still prevailing albeit unnoticed
